You’ve taken the next step and rented or bought a new place, but how do you make sure you don’t miss any vital steps in the moving process? There’s so many aspects involved with moving and it can be easy to forget things here or there. Make sure your moving day is a smooth one with these tips and tricks.

Make Sure There Is A Parking Spot Available For The Moving Truck At Both Locations.
This is something that a lot of people forget about, and it’s also hard if you live in an area with limited parking. If you live in an apartment building see if you can reserve an area just outside, or section off a few parking spaces for the truck to pull into. The last thing you want is for the truck to be parked two block away, this will cost you time and money.

Remember that it is your responsibility to make sure parking is available.

Reserving Elevators
If you are moving into an apartment building make sure you reserve an elevator ahead of time. Most buildings will require you to reserve a elevator so they can put up protectors. Buildings are usually equipped with padding and blankets and they can put these up before you start the move. Did you know most places will not even allow you to move without reserving one?

Label Boxes According To Each Room
You finally completed the packing, that was step one, but what happens when it comes to unpacking? You want to unpack the kitchen utensils however don’t remember which box you packed them in. You look around your place and realize there are boxes everywhere with no labels.

Make sure during the packing process that you label boxes according to the items packed inside them and what room they belong to; also communicate this to your movers so they can place boxes in the correct rooms. This will save time and you won’t have to sort through everything just to find your towels and bedding.

A simple label on each box will make it that much easier to set up your new place and have it feeling like home in no time.

Remember to write ‘Fragile’ on the boxes. Something small which can seem obvious but at the time can completely skip your mind. Make sure your movers are also aware of your fragile items.
